Food was good. I got it to go. Very flavorful. The naan was very good. And the onion kulcha was spicy and tasty.

We dropped in to Darbar for a Saturday evening dinner and were fully impressed. The Interior is pretty straightforward with a couple rows of tables down the middle and along each wall. We were greeted by two very nice women upon entering, and shown to our table. The place was completely full by the time we left. The menu is pretty extensive and caters to vegetarian and non-vegetarians alike. We decided to have the non-vegetarian dinner which is a selection of items (both veg and non-veg) that come out together on a tray. From the menu: Lamb Curry, Butter Chicken, Malai Kofta, Lamb Samosa, Pakora, Rice, Dal, Naan, Papad, Raita, Chutney, Kheer Needless to say, this was a whole lot of food! And a great deal....we could have split one meal... but of course did not...LOL Everything was exceptionally prepared and flavorful. Service was excellent and friendly throughout the night. This is a great place to enjoy some really good Indian food.

Friday night dinner choice Kheema Masala Dosa, lamb crepe delicious spiced pancake with sambar. This southern Indian restaurant service was exceptional. The place was busy but never felt rushed. Street parking might be a challenge but worth it.

Quite simply THE BEST Indian food I've ever had, and probably ever will have. And I've tried plenty of other places - hoping for a glimmer of the comfort and joy I feel with every bite of Darbar - and I am always left wanting more from the flavors, or wishing I had just had Darbar instead. There is something truly special about how distinctly flavorful, bold, delicious, authentic, and satisfying every single dish is here that I feel that every other Indian restaurant should strive for. Darbar is shameless in its flavors - nothing is watered down, and everything is rich, complex, and houses just the right level of heat to pair perfectly with the rice and naan. I checked every day for when the lunch buffet would be back post-pandemic and the day it returned was a truly triumphant day of victory and relief for me, my friends, and my family. I no longer live in Palo Alto, but every time I'm in town the Darbar lunch buffet is at the top of list of things to do, and my whole family jumps at the opportunity to join. Anyone I've introduced to Darbar loves it, craves it, and continues to come back. I love you Darbar, THANK YOU for feeding me and my family the most delicious, reliable, and hearty Indian food for years! I will ALWAYS be coming back, no matter where I'm based!

This restaurant is located close to the Palo Alto Caltrain station. The inside is small but beautifully decorated with enticing warm colors and lots of traditional Indian pictures, with Hindi music in the background. The buffet is in back in attractive metal containers. They usually let people in a few minutes before they have all the food out. The variety is very good with plenty of vegetarian options. The chicken tikka masala is very tangy and good and so is the Goni Manchurian, which is cauliflower in spicy red sauce. There is a chicken vindaloo with sauce that is quite spicy. There were fish and bread pakoras . The naan was fresh .Dessert included gulab jamun and kheer. Waiters checked back often to replenish water.

Darbar consistently has delicious take out and the food holds up really well via Doordash. We usually order: Palak paneer - creamy spinach base with cheese cubes; well seasoned and spiced! Butter chicken - delicious strips of dark chicken meat in a creamy tangy sauce. The sauce is soo good on rice or with naan. Curry chicken - this is one of our favorite chicken curry dishes around this area! Samosa - love the tamarind chutney!

My coworkers and I came here for lunch on a Wednesday midday. It wasn't very busy, and we were seated upon arrival. Food: For lunch, they have the lunch buffet with a good variety of curries and dishes. The cauliflower they had on the buffet line was my favorite item. You are given some naan at the table, but the naan is not unlimited. You get a basket or two of naan depending on your party size. We were four people so we got two baskets. Service: Service was pretty quick. We were seated and given some naan. Then you have at it at the buffet. Once done, you can pay at the front. TL;DR - great lunch option in the area, wish I got more naan
